Merry Christmas! Long time no blog :P

We have had a very busy fall at work which translates into less free time at home and so I haven't had time or energy to post on the blog. That and lately I've been on a huge crocheting kick with my work friends. It's been a lovely way to relax and bond with some great ladies.

The New Year does not promise to be any less crazy but I will be attempting to blog more. I will be really busy at work getting ready for a qualification test in March, but there is only so much clarinet playing a person can do in a day. That should leave a bit of time for crochet and blogging. And the kids. Can't forget those two cool dudes. Why don't I throw a few pictures from my phone up to show you the awesomeness of my children. (obnoxious much?)

Winnipeg Thanksgiving

Keiran and I went to Winnipeg to spend Thanksgiving with friends we haven't seen in awhile and to meet a new baby! If you are a friend that I didn't tell about the trip, I'm so sorry! I only told 4 people I was coming and in the end didn't have a chance to see one of them, so sad :( We probably should have stayed longer!!! It was a really great trip though and I was so happy to meet baby Kira and see everyone else. Keiran and I also walked past two of the houses we used to live in. He didn't quite understand that he couldn't just go inside to see what they looked like. But why Mommy? It's a theme in our house lately. Why? Why? Why?

So we spent the morning at the zoo with the Ritsons and then headed over to Christine and Roberts for the afternoon and supper. After supper we went for a walk. Samantha is pulling Keiran in their wagon.

Along the way we passed the fire station and they had a truck out and were kind enough to let the kids look around.

Keirans first night of indoor soccer

We enrolled Keiran in indoor soccer for the year. This was his first night, it was really cute. It was pretty much a free for all for all the kids. They each had their own balls and pretty much went crazy for an hour.

He needed to take a few breaks, he ran hard almost the whole time! He also would not let go of the ball, he did not want anyone to use his ball. The same thing happened the next time when Daddy took him and he spent almost half the practice crying on the floor. I am happy to report that this past week he shared really well and got two cookies when he came home!

All the dinosaurs had sensors and when you got close, they started moving and making noise. Keiran loved it!

Carrying his buckets to play in the huge sandpit. They have dinosaur bones that you can unbury but my kids weren't quite interested yet. They just wanted to do their own thing in the sand.

Evan is obsessed with shovels and playing in sand and dirt.

A quick lunch before heading home for nap. Jurassic Forest is really fun and I think we'll be going back a number of times in the spring and summer.

As I type this, I am loading over 500 pictures from my camera onto the computer. I will do a photo update tonight hopefully!
Lots happening with us these days. We had a busy summer where the boys got to stay with Gramma and Grampa G while Mommy and Daddy had to work in Ottawa and Quebec City. We then came home, only to turn around a week later and head to Revelstoke for a gig. Now we are done travelling for the time being and looking forward to spending time at home.
Mommy and Keiran went to Winnipeg for a few days at Thanksgiving to visit friends and meet Baby Kira. Daddy and Evan went to Grandma and Grandpa D's house at the same time. It was a nice visit for everyone but I think we are all looking forward to not travelling again for a little while!

My serious little guy. Looking so much like Daddy these days and less like his big brother. He has the head size of a 3 year old. Almost.

We had another naked day last week. Every time I let Evan run around in just his diaper, Keiran needs to be in on the action. And it's so cute!

And by naked I guess I mean underwear only.

Evan has Scout, he got him from my brother for Christmas. Keiran loves Scout and really wanted one of his own. He got a little bit of money from Grandma and Grandpa for Valentines day and so he bought Violet. He thinks she's just great! She has the same favourite animals, colours and foods as him. Amazing eh?!!!

Can I just rant a minute about my baby gate? Of course I can, this is my blog. Now that Evan is moving everywhere we of course have multiple baby gates. 2 are permanent and 2 we can put anywhere. Well, the 2 non permanent ones suck! I'm so frustrated all the time. Especially with the newest one I just bought. Brian can set it up properly but it hates me. Really hates me. And I hate it too. So for anyone who is interested, here it is:

Almost spring

We had the first tiny bit of meltage in the cul-de-sac the other day so I took Keiran outside puddle splashing.

Rain boots, splash pants (slightly too small), winter jacket, toque and mitts. Definitely an Alberta spring!

Other than trying to keep up with the snow we haven't been up to much lately. Trying to stay on top of Evans puking. Slowly but surely his puke stains are taking over the house. I'm really worried that we will have to replace quite a bit of carpet by the time he's done. I think I need a support group for Happy Spitters. Anybody else have one and want to join me? A Happy Spitter that is.
Evan can now officially crawl, no more pulling himself by his arms. He has also made it up the stairs twice. What an accomplishment!!!

Gah look at that snow!!! And this picture was taken after we had a day or two of nice weather so there was a bit of meltage. Apparently we are close to breaking the record for amount of snow in January. It's been a little crazy.

Ugh, so I was just trying to load up some pictures of what we've been doing the past few weeks and thought I would try something in a different window and that action caused my loading pictures to stop loading. ARGH! I had loaded 18 of the 23. I'm sooooo pissed. There are things about blogger that I am really not happy about. That being one of them, there has to be a better way to load pictures and videos. Of course, I'm not savvy enough to figure it out myself so I'll just complain and hope someone else does.

Merry Christmas!!! For Christmas this year, I got myself a new digital camera - a Canon T2i Digital Rebel. Both Brian and I are in love. So now I get to share with you the first few pictures off of the camera. Up above is cutie pie Evan - look at his eyes. I love how blue they are.

Speaking of blue eyes...big brother has awesome ones!

This is a kid that could spend all day long spinning with his cars while listening to music. I don't know how he does it because I feel like puking after just one spin!

Keirans Christmas Eve pajamas. We each get a new pair every year on Christmas Eve. We've been doing it for the past 4 Christmases.

Opening his stocking on Christmas morning and finding all the Bob the Builder die cast cars I bought him off of Ebay.

He lined them all up as he was taking them out. In the background is the ever present Rat. His favourite toy and best friend!

The chaos that was our living room after all the toys were opened! It still pretty much looks like this 3 days later!

Christmas day is the perfect day to try to climb the stairs for the first time!

The turkey! We (and by we I mean Brian) brined it for about 7 hours so that when it cooked it would be nice and juicy and taste wonderful. And it did.

Now we're just trying to settle back into a normal routine and get things cleaned up before Brian goes back to work. I think a few trips tobogganing and to the library are in our future but for the most part we will be lying low. I hope everyone had a great Christmas!

I finally took some pictures off of my camera, it's only been about 3 months!
We tried to do some Christmas pictures of the kids the other day, almost impossible! Keiran has this crazy picture face and Evan always just stares at the camera with his mouth open these days. It's cute and all but doesn't make for very attractive pictures! I will post them anyways cause my kids are adorable even when they make funny faces.

Love these kids! Even when they don't let me sleep well at night. I'm crossing fingers that it's just a teething phase. Right Evan?!

I think my two boys are going to be best friends! Nobody can make Evan laugh and smile the way Keiran can and Keiran loves to talk to his brother and giggle with him. This afternoon I knew they were awake from their naps by the laughing and screaming coming out if their bedroom, it was awesome!!!! I can't wait until they can REALLY play together!

Little Boo aka Sharky aka Evan now is the proud owner of two teeth! Front bottom for both. Those things are sharp!!! He is also desperately trying to crawl, farts up a storm, rolls everywhere, hates napping and smiles at everyone. How fun! He weighs 19 pounds now, no wonder our arms are getting tired.
Keiran weighs 38 pounds, he's gained almost 3 pounds since August. Boom!

Cannot get that kid to smile properly. It must be a toddlerism to line up cars and toys in lines, he does it all the time.

Ok I know this is totally bad, but Evan had to have a chest X-ray yesterday because of the rattle he has when he breathes and I took a picture of him in the contraption. It was either that or cry because my poor kiddo was in there. I figure when he gets bigger he'll het a kick out of the expression on his face. He was fine after about 30 seconds of crying. He actually did better than I thought he would.

I downloaded a blog app to my phone tonight so I will just post a quick note to see how well it works!

Here is a picture of the quilt I'm working on for Keiran for Christmas.

Cool, it seems to have worked. I'm making him a Bob the Builder quilt and that will be the front of it. I have all the squares cut so stay tuned for more pictures :)

Bronchitis

It has been an interesting week here. Daddy has been gone on a work trip and I've had two little boys with bronchitis. Thankfully, Grandpa D was able to come down for the week and help me out. It's been fantastic! Keiran is in heaven, he loves having Grandpa around. Evan is full of smiles for him too. So is Mommy! lol
Thank you so much Grandpa! And thanks to Grandma too for letting Grandpa come for the week.
So it's been fun having these sick, coughing, snotty kids around. At least they are happy most of the time. I think Keiran is starting to miss daycare though. He'll go back next week.
Next week is a busy week, I'm actually volunteering to go back to work to play in a concert. The music will be good, a good friend is hosting the concert session (it's at a music teachers conference) and my best friend is coming in from Winnipeg to play as well. I am sooo excited! But, I haven't played in months and the music is not easy so I'm a little worried about it. I will have a few chances on monday and tuesday to practice though so hopefully I can work a few kinks out. Still, soooo excited!
Tonight is friday Pizza night and it is now time for me to order said pizza. We are going to carve pumpkins tonight and then go to some Halloween parties tomorrow. Pictures to come!

Still around, promise! Haven't been doing too much on the computer lately, just trying to make it through each day! Anybody up for coming over to clean the house so we can lounge around and do nothing?! Darn, didn't think so.
Will post some more pictures soon, kids have been doing cute things. Evan is loving everything Keiran does and could spend his whole day watching him play. Somewhere I've got cute pictures of him doing this.
Both kids have colds right now so night time has been a little rough. Brian and I aren't sleeping well and spend the day trying to catch up with things and wake up enough to play with the boys. Evan ends up in our bed almost every night. Little dude was nice enough to pee through his jammies and onto my side last night. So thoughtful eh?
Keiran and I baked brownies yesterday while Evan was napping. I got the recipe off another blog and think I will have to share it as it is yum. It's already on facebook but I will put it here as well. I'll link to the original blog too.

Kami's Dark Chocolate Brownies

1 cup butter, melted
1 1/2 cups granulated (white) sugar
1 1/2 cups brown sugar (packed)
1 TBS vanilla
4 eggs
1 cup cocoa powder
1 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp salt
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350F. Grease 9x13" pan (Metal is better than glass for these.).
Combine melted butter, white and brown sugar and vanilla in large bowl. Beat in eggs, one at a time, until thoroughly blended.

In separate bowl, mix together flour, cocoa powder and salt. Gradually stir flour mixture into butter/sugar mixture until well blended. Stir in chocolate chips. Spread batter evenly into greased pan.

Bake 35-40 minutes or until toothpick comes out almost clean (no liquid batter on the toothpick).
Cool completely before cutting.

Enjoy with a tall glass of ice cold milk! :)

I didn't mean to be gone from the blog for so long! I've been trying to make an effort to blog a bit more but I guess life got in the way these past few weeks.
Brian and I decided quite a while ago that we only wanted two children and since my family is very fertile we really needed to make sure that 2 was all we had! So, 2 days ago I had my tubes tied. The surgery itself is fairly minor, I have two small incisions, and it was done laparoscopically. I was able to go home the same day and recovery has been fine, I can already carry Evan around with no pain. I have only had to take Advil for the few times I've had a bit of pain, no prob! But, hot damn, waking up from the surgery sucked big time! I really was sleepy and had a hard time waking up and then I could not keep anything down, including water, for the rest of the night. Brian was really good though and he helped lots. Dad and Penny came over to watch Evan and Wendy took Keiran to dance and then he had a sleepover with his little buddy Codie. He had a lot of fun and wants to go back already.
But, if I never have to have surgery again, it will be too soon! I'm crossing my fingers that from now on I'll be super healthy because surgery sucks butt!!!

We got Keiran a camera for his birthday this year. Not a kids camera, but a real, shockproof, waterproof camera! We kinda got tired of him always wanting to use our camera every time we took a picture. This way, when he gets bored of it, we'll have a decent second camera to use! Can I say camera again? Camera!!
Ok. So, most of his pictures have his fingers in them, he took a few of my butt and some majorly unflattering pics of both Brian and I. I won't post those. I'll try and find a few cute ones to post.

We get a lot of these ones. He's a big fan of doing this. Ew, I just noticed the boogers in his nose. Gross. Oh well, I'm not taking it down!!!

Summer fun

An update has been much needed! We've been a little busy the past little bit with travelling to BC and back.
We went to Vancouver Island for a week but were gone for almost two. We took 3 days to get there, spent 2 in Abbotsford with my sister and then took 3 days to get home. Travelling with 2 small children is quite stressful! And busy! I'm glad to be home. We did have a good trip but it's always nice to come home again.
So I'm just going to throw up a bunch of pictures. I don't have pictures of everything as we both had a kid in our arms for most of the trip, but I do have a few.
My Mom got married while we were in BC so I will eventually post pictures of that too, just waiting for her to email me her favourites.
Anyways, here goes...

Credit card woes

So a few weeks ago we were about to leave to go to Calgary for Brian to work at the Stampede. Before we left he went to the store to pick up cat food and litter. As he tries to pay, the credit card gets declined. Odd. He goes for gas on the way home, credit card declined. Oh oh. He gets home and calls Mastercard and it looks like someone stole our credit card number and has been putting charges on it. They tried to buy a $1000 computer from Apple, they put almost $1000 on paypal, couple hundred from Telus, couple hundred from Playstation, and even a donation to the Cancer society. Nice. So, the card was cancelled and we're in the middle of waiting for a new card while they figure out what happened.
Last week I received a package in the mail. It wasn't addressed to me specifically but had been re-routed to me. It started with the buyer information being my name with an email address that wasn't mine and a shipping address that was my old Winnipeg address. The actual shipping label was made out from an address in Ottawa to an address in Gatineau. No actual names attached. I don't know how it made it to me other than they must have tried to send it to Winnipeg and then it got resent here.
I thought about refusing it since I didn't recognize the sender and wasn't expecting anything but then thought maybe it was related to my credit card so I took it home and we opened it up.
Well, it was the weirdest package ever! Inside was: some weird red sunglass type things, a flyer for a real estate company in Quebec, a pair of old shoes, an opened container of crackers and a half drunk bottle of water.
What the???
And so, I took pictures! We called Mastercard to see what we should do and they said to call the police so we'll be doing that sometime soon. I hate whoever stole my credit card number!

Gardens

I'm not much of a gardener but I've been more interested in it since I started having to be a grown up and owning our own houses. Our house here in Edmonton had a nasty looking front garden when we moved in, I wish I had pictures. There was this awful low pine bush thing (I think it's a mung pine?) placed in an awkward spot and then there was a purple bush against the front window that the previous owners had mangled all up by improper pruning. Brian cut the pine down and we tore out the bush and left it in the front for about a month and then the weeds took over and boy it looked terrible. Embarrassing! And of course with a newborn in the house we had no time or energy to do anything about it, until yesterday! Both boys were sleeping yesterday afternoon and I finally got out there and did something about it! There's still more to do but for now, I'm happy and not embarrassed anymore!

Still a bit left to do but trust me, this is a thousand times better than it was!!!

I've done a bit in the backyard too. This year I have a water plant and a strawberry plant on the deck. I had fish in the water plant but they all died. I think it got too murky for them. I'm going to try again with a beta fish and keep it a bit cleaner!

Can't wait for the strawberries to be ready!

Last summer when we moved in, Mom came out and put in the back garden for me and tidied up the shade garden. The only bad thing was that we did this in August and chose flowers that were blooming at the time and so the garden was looking a little dreary! I added a few more perennials that bloom earlier and a number of annuals and it looks a bit better. But, then we had massive storms while we were gone in Calgary and more than half my new plants look like they drowned! I hope they haven't but they look pathetic! I think my poor sunflowers are dead though, very disappointing. The storms also snapped my Delphiniums :( Oh well, looks way better than it used to!

Back garden view 2 - the Nana memorial side. My Nana had lots of Hydrangeas in her yard so this half of the garden is the memorial to her, 3 white hydrangeas and assorted other plants. I threw some bee balm in there and marigolds and of course others I can't name. The hydrangeas are just starting to get flowers now, they will look good in a few weeks!

Well, it's been a busy July so far! We headed to Calgary at the beginning of the month to visit family while Brian worked at the Stampede and Spruce Meadows. Grandpa and I took Keiran to the Stampede Parade to watch Daddy march with the band while Grandma stayed home with Evan. It was pretty fun but sooo long. Poor Keiran wanted to leave about half way through and had a few freak outs but overall was really good. It was also his first chance to ride a city bus and take a Ctrain. He really enjoyed it and so did Mommy! Evan then got to stay at home again a couple of days later while I took Keiran to the zoo with Auntie Karen and Uncle Mike. We then visited with Sabrina and her girls and had a good time playing! Overall a great trip!
Then we came home and had a visit from my friend Christine from Winnipeg. They just left this morning to carry on their journey to BC. Good times! I even managed to get some time in in the garden.
Now there are only 4 days left until Brian starts summer leave! We are staying here for the first few weeks and then heading to BC for Mom and Daves wedding! Looking forward to the trip and introducing the boys to the ocean.

Canada Day

Well, today is Canada Day. Brian was working all day and I planned to bring both kids to the base for the block party that happens every year. This year the Garrison teamed up with the city and made a huge event. It was chaos. It didn't help that Keiran cried from the second we left the car until the second we got back into the car, after not seeing anything that the day had to offer. It was windy and he didn't like the wind and it was in the middle of nap time and he was just a bear. Evan was fussy as well. So, we walked around a bit, found Daddy, got some hugs, found our friends to say Bye and headed back home. Now both boys are sleeping and I'm just chilling on my computer a bit trying to relax before they wake up. There's no way I'd even think about going out for the fireworks tonight!
Poor Brian has been very busy at work the past few weeks. Thankfully today was his last day for a little bit and now he has a 4 day weekend. Yay! We have no set plans other than me getting my hair done on saturday. It'll be nice to have him around again! Next week, Calgary Stampede. Yeehaw! It'll be my first stampede parade and my Aunt got us great seats with a pancake breakfast to start off with! Should be a great time and we'll get to see Daddy march by in the band!

So, we had a relaxing morning at home and had ourselves a picnic with watermelon and doritos!!!

She left me in Edmonton and carried on home to Winnipeg, but it was still the best flight ever!!! We were both so excited! So here she is cuddling Evan!

My two cousins are finally home from Afghanistan! I had a BBQ last weekend to celebrate their homecomings and the birth of baby Evan. Unfortunately, it SNOWED on May 30th!!! How lame is that? So, my BBQ turned into an inside event, which is just fine, a little squishy but we managed to fit 50 people in our house at Christmas so I wasn't worried.
All of my siblings were together in one room. This doesn't happen very often so of course we took advantage of that and got a few pictures together. We also got some cousin pics. There are a few missing but considering how far apart we all live, we didn't do too badly!

Today I am off to take Evan to a check up with the pediatrician. He is doing well though, she just wants to see him because I started crying in her office two weeks ago when I was stressed about breastfeeding. Since then, I've seen the lactation specialist at the breastfeeding clinic and she could even tell after a few minutes that it wasn't working for us! I was waiting for someone else to confirm what I already suspected, that Evan is just like Keiran and I'd be a pumping mommy. Sigh. Oh well, do what you have to so your kids have what they need! Now just to get into a pumping routine with two kids. Wish me luck. Thankfully Keiran still goes to daycare so daytime is pretty easy. I'm just worried about the times where Brian will be gone away on trips and I'm alone with two kids. I think the first time that happens will be next week. Aaaah! I'm worried already. It'll work out, I know it will, I'm just worried.
Ok, off the computer! Lets get some stuff done!!!

We have company! Yesterday my sister and her boyfriend came and tonight my Mom and her fiance got here. Fun! Finally we are using all the extra bedrooms in this place. Brians parents were also here last weekend and his brother and his wife came for a few days as well. It's been busy!!! Everyone has been showering Evan with love and kisses. And playing with Keiran too. Big brother has been sooooo overstimulated these past two weeks. He's been going to bed later and later and getting grumpier and grumpier! Poor kiddo. I think I almost got him to bed at a decent hour today so hopefully tomorrow he's a happy camper.
I don't have any new pictures to post tonight but hopefully there are some good ones on the camera to post later.
Can I mention how tired I am? Brian is too. This whole 2 kid thing is kicking our butts big time. And (tmi) Evan is a little schmoo who is refusing to breastfeed right now so I've been pumping around the clock. The only advantage to that is that someone else can feed him while I pump and wash equipment. My poor hands are already getting chapped. Boo.
I'm working at getting him to breastfeed again and I've had a lot of support from the community nurses. They are even referring me to a breastfeeding clinic so I hope to get some good tips there too. Crossing my fingers anyways.
That's about all I have for tonight. I just don't want to fall off the bandwagon now that I've actually started this thing up again!

Looky looky, I'm posting again the day after my last post! Woohoo! It just happens that both boys are sleeping in their beds right now, which incidentally has not happened up to this point. So, instead of cleaning the kitchen or living room or bathrooms or folding laundry or finishing up the pasta salad to take to the BBQ tonight, I'm on here adding some pictures. And facebooking. Of course.
My cousin Jerrod just recently came home from a 7 month (ish) tour to Afghanistan, which has been HELL for him. He came over for a visit today with Auntie Jacquie and Uncle Gregg to meet baby Evan. I of course got the requisite baby picture which I will now post:

A new start?!

So we'll try this whole blog thing again!!!
August was a long time ago in this household, much has happened! We've added a little baby to the mix and things will never be the same.
Say Hello to Evan Alexander, born May 9th 2010 (Mothers Day!), weighing 7 pounds 2 ounces and 21 inches long:
He's so darn cute! A little jaundiced but still cute. Poor baby had to spend some time under the phototherapy lights when he was 5 days old but he seems to be getting better. He's still yellow enough that strangers are asking me if he's jaundiced but the doctor doesn't seem concerned at this point so I'm not going to worry too much about it.
Big brother Keiran is really starting to like having a little brother. He looks for Baby Evan every morning when he gets up and asks as where he is when he can't immediately see him. He kisses his head before bed every night and loves talking about the fact that he's a big brother now. Love it!
Mommy and Daddy are still getting used to having 2 kiddos. At the moment Daddy is spending lots of time with Keiran and Mommy with Evan but we know it won't always be that way. Keiran and Daddy are so great together that I'm a little jealous! They play all the time and are really bonding, as jealous as I am, it's great to see!
This will be my update for now, there's much more to say and more pictures to post but it is almost 10:30pm and it's time for this tired Mommy to hit the sack.

Well haven't I just been about the worst blogger ever?! Here are my reasons for not blogging since March:

1. I was on tour with the RCA Band to Myrtle Beach for 10 days in March
2. Went on tour with the Air Command Band to Flin Flon, The Pas, Saskatoon and Souris in April.
3. Went on tour with the Air Command Band to Thunder Bay in May, and right after that we went on our House Hunting Trip to Edmonton.
4. Moved from Winnipeg to Edmonton in June.
5. Almost as soon as we moved, we had to go to Calgary to play in the Stampede parade and Spruce Meadows. We also went to Medicine Hat on that trip for a Change of Command parade.
6. In July after we got back home from the Stampede, we had a week before we took off again, this time to The Netherlands for 10 days. We got back from there, had 2 days at home and then went to Shilo for a Change of Command parade. Finished that, came home, went to Calgary to pick up Keiran from Brians parents house. Started summer leave right after that and 5 days later went to Lethbridge for Mike and Karens wedding reception.

We are now finally home and hope to stay home for a few months!!! We've been so busy that I don't have much else to report other than we haven't been home, Keiran is a cute kid and we are just starting to get used to our new house. More news to come as it happens! Pictures too!

Saturday late morning we took Savannah and Keiran to the playground at the beach. They're still a little small for most of the stuff but had fun anyways. My mom gave Keiran a duck hat that looked really cute on him. It is now officially called the duckman hat.

Moms Surprise Birthday Party - part one

My mom turned 50 this past weekend! Woohoo! My sister decided that my mom needed a surprise party and so we somehow managed to pull it off! I don't know how, but it was great! She knew I was going to be out there (how could I go out for the party and not let her see Keiran as much as possible???!!!) but didn't know about Lindsay and Mike being out there (and the party itself of course).
So anyways, Keiran and I flew half way across the country for the weekend and it was great! He was sooo good on the plane. I had been really worried that the plane ride would be a nightmare but thankfully he managed to keep himself nicely occupied.
Here he is on the day we left (friday), about 10 minutes before we needed to leave for the airport. He didn't get a great nap that afternoon, poor kid. He looked cute when he was sleeping though!

On the plane. The guy you see sleeping in the background was about the nicest man ever! He let Keiran climb all over him and he played with him and was just so good natured. At the stop over in Calgary, he got off the plane and bought Keiran a donut from Timmies. Sooo nice! It turns out that he's the chief of the Air Force squadron in Comox! cool.

Keirans latest thing has been to walk around as often as he can with a finger in his bellybutton. He is obssessed with the thing! He loves to lift up his shirt and get tickled and show off the button. In the tub, he'll have one hand on a toy and one on his bellybutton. Too cute!

Much screaming ensued but about 5 minutes later he was totally fine. Here is the progression of his bump for the first 3 days after it happened.
Day 1: about 10 minutes after the "incident". (you can tell he is totally fine by the appearance of "picture face")

Day 2 at tub time: (what?!?!?!?! "picture face" again?!?!?!?)

Day 3 at St. Vital mall. Unsurprisingly we again get to see "picture face".

Still day 3, just a close up. We would have seen "picture face" if my camera had reacted just a tad quicker!

Our Christmas was fun this year! We spent it at home in Winnipeg and hosted a Christmas eve supper and went to Jeremy and Christines on Christmas day. I meant to go to the zoo on Christmas day but somehow the day disappeared and we ended up not going. Instead, we went yesterday and had a blast, it was a lot warmer than the day before!
The first picture is Keiran after doing a faceplant in the snow at the zoo. He was sooo upset! Next is him right after we picked him out of the snow, it was everywhere, poor kid.

In my brain deadiness I accidentally put Keirans name on the gift from me to Brian but was too lazy to put a new gift tag on it.

"Uncle" Stephen Cocks got him some cool toys too and he's already having fun with the twirly thing (and by "he" I mean "we" as in mommy and daddy)

Opening presents with Daddy. They are both wearing their Christmas PJs. We all got new PJs to wear on Christmas day. He actually wasn't all that interested in opening presents, I could barely even get him to rip paper! He was however interested in playing with the toys once they were opened.

A couple of videos for fun. Keiran loves to dance and will dance to just about any sound he hears. In the first video he is dancing to the sound of the dishwasher running.

We are finally on Christmas leave here. It's great to know that we have a few weeks to relax and de-stress! It's been the busiest fall we've had at work in a number of years. I'm looking forward to a few months where there will be no travelling. We are doing a fairly big tour in April, but that's still 4 months away so I'm not thinking of it right now!
The big news I was talking about a few weeks ago?! Here it is: we are moving to Edmonton this summer! We are being posted! It's not completely official yet but it will be very soon. The only thing left to make it official is the posting message, which they will get to us around March 1st, then we can put the house up on the market and then look for a place in Edmonton. (unless we decide to move into a PMQ)
Anyways, that's our big news for now. Change will be good!

This is our gingerbread house for this year. I didn't do a great job but it took me about a week to get the whole thing together and finally decorated! We just didn't have time. Of course, I could have waited until this weekend to do it (now that we are finally finished with all 9 Christmas concerts), but that would have been smart. Oh well.

Just a few random pics to throw in. Top one is Keiran and I at the Conservatory yesterday.

Keiran LOVES it when Brian and Hailey carry him around on their backs. He'll go behind them and crawl on and then get upset if they don't pick him up and carry him around! He's changed it over the past few days though to where he'll go behind you and try and push you off the couch. Very amusing.

Our Christmas tree this year. It's our first live one! Also have the china cabinet decorated with all of our stockings (including ones for the cats!)

Keiran has recently been sticking his tongue out lots and saying "blather blather", which of course we encourage (again because we are bad parents). We think it's really cute.

Brian and I took Keiran to the Assiniboine Park Conservatory yesterday to see the Festival of Trees and Lights. He really liked looking at the lights strung across the plants. He even walked holding my hand for the first time and Brian caught it on video!
I'm going to put the video on here first and then put up some pictures later. For now I have to run off and get ready for a Christmas concert.

We just got back from a three day trip to Dryden Ontario. I sure missed the little guy while we were gone!!! The trip was the beginning of our two and a half week Christmas concert tour. Brian and I are both doing a little singing and I do a little dancing as well. It's a good show and I'm proud of it but it takes us away from home quite a bit over the next few weeks. I will be happy when it is over!
I will have some big news to announce soon as well (and NO I am not pregnant!).
This video I put up is from this afternoon after Keiran got up from his nap. He does the fake cry thing now when he doesn't get his way. He doesn't like it when we say "Ow!" after he hits us so he always starts to cry. I find it hilarious (because I'm a bad mom). He was a little grumpy in the video but I'm glad I caught him in the slap, ow, cry act because it has us laughing all the time. He is a hitting machine lately though! I hope this phase does not last too long.
On another note, we got our Christmas tree today! It's the first time we've gotten a live tree together! Keiran didn't really like being out in the cold, he cried almost the whole time we were out there. We actually weren't out there very long, we took the first tree we saw, it called to us both! Right now it is in the living room thawing out and dropping needles. I hope to decorate it tomorrow after my orchestra concert.
On another Keiran note, here is a picture of his room when we came home today. He is totally Capt. Destructor. He can trash his bedroom in 2 minutes flat! Which he now does on a daily basis. Sigh.

We've been having a lot of fun lately with Keiran! He now walks a bit, sticks out his tongue and waves hello. I got him waving hello and sort of sticking out his tongue in the first video and we finally got him walking on the second video. Fun times!!!!

Brian and Keiran were having tons of fun today! We were all sitting around the kitchen floor and they started playing a fun game of slapping the floor and stove and giggling. It was great!

Keiran has also taken a few solo steps!!!!! Woohoo!!!! On saturday he took his first two and today we convinced him to take a few more. It's great! I think it will still be a while before he is walking but that's fine with us, we're enjoying the learning part too!

Our little monkey is having a bad day today and only seems to want Mommy. But he did take a small break from his clingyness to play in the dishwasher. It was cute.
Today was a Keiran and Mommy baking day. *we* made whole wheat cinnamon buns, double fudge cookies, butter tarts and we iced some sugar cookies that I made the other day. I'm getting a head start on Christmas baking!

Snow day today! First big snow of the year and of course Hailey texted me first thing this morning just to say that she hadn't seen this much snow in.....FOREVER! I told her to wait until January when it really snows! Anyways, this is what our back yard looked like this morning:

We had a good Halloween here, with over 100 trick or treaters! I took Keiran out for a bit to a few friends places and everybody ooooohed and awwwwed over his cute elephant costume. So, pictures! The first one above this was our pumpkin. My first attempt at carving something other than a happy face. I mangled the kitty up pretty good but at least you can still tell it's a cat!
Next is Keiran and his stuffed elephant. Mike and Karen gave him the elephant for Christmas last year and so we thought we'd put them together for comparison. So cute!

Keiran had a playdate yesterday with his friend Luke! They had a lot of fun and half way through the date Fiona and Jo showed up with their kids so we had 5 kids running around the basement. It was awesome!!!! Keiran was exhausted after that but had so much fun with everyone and picked up a few new things too! Ailidh taught him how to destroy the little tent I borrowed from the MFRC and one of the kids taught him how to crawl into the little play car, woohoo!

One of his newest tricks is going into "his" cabinet in the kitchen and closing the doors, it's really cute and he's only been doing it for about 3 days now.

When we went to West Edmonton Mall, they had a petting farm right by Galaxy Land and I took Keiran in to see the animals. Check out his reaction to the baby bunny! The other video is Keirans first time climbing up stairs! Savannah taught him to do this. Now he's getting good at it! Soon he'll be walking and running up the stairs!

Today I went shopping quickly at the Baby Bin Boutique for a Halloween outfit for Keiran. I didn't find one there but what I did find was a bigger version of my favourite outfit of his when he was a tiny baby! I HAD to buy it. So, here is the 14 month old Keiran:

We went to Edmonton to visit family for Thanksgiving and had a huge delay at the airport on the way home and so Keiran had a lot of playtime in the cute little playstructure. I had to post this video of Keiran and Simon. Poor cat! I'm trying to get Keiran to learn to be gentle but it is taking a long time. His idea of gentle is grab and pull hard. When I'm not behind the camera I do show him how to be gentle and I sure hope he catches on soon or Simon might disown me!

The other two cats just run away when he comes near but for whatever reason, Simon usually puts up with it. I think that eventually they will be great friends, Keiran just has to learn to be nice first!
