Borat

Well, I'm home!!!! After being gone for 7 weeks, it was sure great to come back to Brian and the animals. Now I'm back to work and busier than ever.
Hey, our band just released a new CD and it's free for anyone who wants it! You should all visit our website and request one, that would be awesome cause I'm the one who would send it out to you!
Here's the website: http://www.airforce.forces.gc.ca/acband/index_e.asp
Seriously, it's free and easy to request and I would love to send it out! Even to Joni in Europe!! I've already sent some to France, Sweden and the Netherlands.
Speaking of France, the band is heading there in March. We're going to Vimy Ridge and Belgium as well. I'm actually kinda hoping to not be on that trip because I'd like to be pregnant. If I'm pregnant then they won't let me go cause the band will be marching around and stuff. I'm not completely sure though, it's a tough call - band trip or pregnancy, band trip or pregnancy...argh! I'm leaning towards pregnancy because I've been to France twice - but I haven't been to Vimy Ridge and the band might actually be staying in Holland. Meh. We'll see how time goes.
Now on to the title of this post. I went to see Borat last night. I liked it. Not as much as I thought I would but I did. I laughed at many parts and was flabbergasted much of the time. I need to see it again. Hilarious.
We are going to Vancouver Island for Christmas! I'm excited about it. I haven't been to BC at Christmas time for 5 years. It'll be great!
Ok, that's enough for now.

will update soon - promise.
have been in ontario for seven weeks, get home on wednesday at midnight.

Saturday, August 26, 2006

Well, I'm really bad at updating. Sorry!!!
Ok so - I did my fitness test 10 days ago and guess what? I flipping PASSED!!!! Now I don't have to worry about doing it for another year. Maybe two or three years if I manage to get pregnant and actually stay pregnant and have a baby!!!! That would be awesome.
And so since I passed the test, I now have to go on a seven week leadership course. I'm leaving on tuesday. Not so fun. I won't get to play my clarinet for seven weeks. I don't think I've ever gone that long without playing before! Totally gonna suck, but it's something that I have to do so I might as well do it now and get it over with.
If anyone feels like writing me, I would love to have some snail mail. I'm just not going to post my address here though so just email me and I'll send you my address: clarinetchick@hotmail.com
Anyways, we're having a girls night tonight so I have to go get ready for that. Should be fun - manicures, pedicures, face masks, pj's and lounging in a hottub drinking champagne and eating chocolate. Does life get much better?!

I loaded the pictures and so now will post them.

This first one is Brian playing at the Winnipeg Jazz Festival back in June. Our stage band is very good. It's nice to listen to them.

Next picture is Me and Sabrinas little girl, Norah Jane. She is so fun!!!

This next one is me with two of my pets. Sara the dog and Simon the cat. I just leaned against the couch and the next thing I knew, Simon had jumped up on my lap, it was cute but hard on the back. You can see a few of my stamp sets in the background. A very small number of what I actually own! I'm so obssessed!

This will be the last picture for the day. It's Brian holding our friends youngest kid. We love her to pieces, she's just such a spunky little girl. More shed pictures later.

I did a workshop tonight and did some seriously cool cards, but it's so hard to do stamping stuff in the summer because people are always in vacation mode. The sales went a bit better than I had expected and the hostess did at least meet the minimum amount for a party so that was good.
You guys probably don't know what I'm talking about. I'm a demonstrator for a rubber stamping company called Stampin' Up! If you haven't heard of it, check it out here:

http://www.stampinup.com

I make greeting cards and a little bit of scrapbooking and other fun stuff and I teach others how to do it and it is sooo fun and addicting. It's a great hobby.

Here's a website I've been absolutely obssessed with today:

www.oceangram.com

I've been sending oceangrams and respdonding to other oceangrams and it's been great.
I have some pictures I'd like to post here but I have to load them to my computer first. I intend on having the next post be a picture one. We'll see if it actually happens.

Peace out.

mmmm....we're having a BBQ tonight and we're barbecuing steak. It's marinating in the fridge as I write, which reminds me, I need to pull out chicken for the kids. remember to pull out the chicken...
It's brians birthday next week so we're having friends come over too to eat with us and I bought an ice cream cake from sargent sundae - if any of you ever come out to visit me, I'll bring you there, it's an amazing ice cream shop. Soooo good.
You know, it always happens that when people come out of town to help you build stuff, that's when it's going to rain for the first time in a month! We have gotten tons of rain in the past two days after more than a month of no rain. Piss me off. but, the men are making good progress on the shed.
I giggle at you guys all wierded out by me saying holy fuck! hee hee hee. My favourite words these days are "fucking hell". I almost said it in front of Brians mom today. I did actually say "shit" in front of her but thankfully she wasn't too fazed.
Meh - time to get to work before friends get here. mmmmm - steak!

Holy fuck. We just watched Layer Cake. What a messed movie. I guess I watch too many chick flicks because I found that kind of disturbing!

It's shed week!

Ok so tonight Brians family is getting here and tomorrow the shed building starts! Not being the type of girl who actively joins in on that sort of activity, I am doing all the cooking and feeding of the men. What a traditional role! I don't mind though, I'm a pretty darn good cook and love to bake as well so it will be much fun for me.
I have been enjoying my time off of work so far. I can't believe we're in the third week already and only have one week left. Sigh. I have a fitness test to do the week we get back and I've been preparing for that. Can I mention again how much running sucks. I'd rather do almost any other type of physical activity. Grrr.
We finally got the pictures put up that we bought at Ikea when we were in Calgary for the Stampede. They look awesome! We haven't had things up on those walls since we moved in so it finally feels like we've finished decorating. Fun times were had.
I picked up another clarinet student yesterday. Every time I say I'm not going to take new students because I'm done with teaching, another person calls and I can't say no. But at least this girl has graduated from high school and seems to be a dedicated clarinet player. I'll meet her on sunday and we'll see if we get along. I'm sure we will. I swear that she's the last one though! No more for me. I want free evenings!!!!
Anyways, I should be baking or something instead of sitting on my ass!!! I'm going to make chocolate chip cookies with Belgian chocolate - yum!

Poor hubby had to have surgery yesterday. He had an overactive parathyroid and it was leaching calcium from his bones and giving him kidney stones. If they would have left it, he would have eventually had kidney failure and osteoperosis so they took it out and now he should be really good. They had to go in at the throat though so he's going to have a scar from it but it should be ok.
We're getting ready to build a shed right now. We are getting the cement pad poured tomorrow and his parents and brother will be here next week to help build it. I won't help build but I'll make sure they're all fed and watered and stuff. Isn't that an exciting way to spend summer holidays? I'm actually very happy about it, I didn't really want to go anywhere this summer.
Have I ever mentioned how much I love reitmans clothes? I swear I'm out shopping all the time and almost everything I own is from there. It's kinda pathetic actually. I should get a part time job there just so I can get the discount on clothing. That would be nice. I'm thinking about doing that when I get back from my course.
Speaking of my course, it's coming up fairly soon. End of august I'll be going away for 7 weeks, but I'll be able to still do emails and internet and all that fun stuff because I plan on getting internet in my room.
Anyways, I'm tired and am going to have a nap. I love summer sleeping!!!

So I realized that some of you have never met or seen my husband and those that have, have not seen us in a looooooong time! So here we are! This was taken by my cousin last summer on Vancouver Island. We went there for our summer vacation.
We have been married for almost three years now! Where has the time gone? Seriously. It's crazy. Our anniversary is coming up on August 9th. How fun is that. For our anniversary last year we went whale watching and it was seriously awesome. I'm dying to go again.
Can I just mention how glad I am to be on summer vacation right now? We desperately needed the break, there has been far too much travelling going on this year and it's time to just stay home for a bit before starting it all up again at the end of August.

This is Charlie. He is our newest cat. We got him back in January when we went to the pet rescue shelter to buy some dog food for Sara (we used to buy all her food there). This little guy was there and he was sooo cute, always grabbing your fingers and licking and then meowing and being super affectionate. At the time his name was Pumpkin. We got our food and went home but couldn't stop thinking about this little guy and so like 10 minutes before the place closed for the day we called them up and told them to stay open because we were going to come in and adopt Pumpkin. So we did and then we renamed him to Charlie and life has been good ever since. He is still an awesome cat, if he would just stop scratching the new couch that is! He and Simon are best friends, it's cute.

This is what Charlie started doing to Simon after being at our house for a few weeks before he got fixed. Simon showed him who was really boss shortly after! It's still hilarious though.

This ladies and gentleman is my tattoo! I got it in may as a tribute to the two children I have lost.
The butterfly is new life, the two flowers are for the children I have lost and the bud represents hope for the future.
As we have children, I will add flowers for them too!
I love this tattoo!
And that's my blog entry for the day.

due date woes

Today was supposed to be my due date. I was pretty much dreading the day. I was on duty at work and so had to stay about 2 and a half hours longer than everyone else, plus Brian left for Colorado today and so he's not even around. I do have one friend who remembered the day though and I am so grateful to have her around. She's gonna hang out with me tonight.
I'm a little sad but there really is so much else going on that I don't have time to dwell on it. And I'm not the type of person to do that anyways. Instead, I'll go shopping and then maybe go see the neighbors baby and all that fun stuff. Just get out for a bit.
Calgary stampede coming up. I spent a lot of time today preparing the music for it. We are going to be playing some seriously cheezy crap on that trip! I'll be embarrassed if anyone I know comes while we're playing! Most of the stuff is pretty good but there are some really awful pieces in our repertoire.
Anyways, I just needed to write something down. Meh.

So sore

Seriously, who knew that playing softball would make a person sooooo sore? We played at work on friday and had a great time. Saturday morning rolls around and I can't fucking move, it was incredible. So much for going for a jog that day. Stupid fitness test anyways. Went for a small jog today but was still incredibly sore. Guess I'll go again tomorrow. Do any of you want to come out here and do my fitness test for me? I'd love you forever! It's not really that hard, other than the part where I am not a good runner. I'm stressing about that, I'm just not built to run and I suck at it on top of that. Oh, and I wasn't working out at all while I was pregnant and then too depressed to really do anything after losing the baby so I'm waaaay behind now. ugh.
Meh, it'll work itself out.
Just finished a crazy busy few weeks at work. Now things are starting to slow down and that's a good thing. I like to have weekends to myself.
So, we're going to be in Calgary for the stampede this year. It'll be my first stampede ever! How fun will that be.
I'm being spotlighted on our work webpage, check it out: http://www.airforce.forces.gc.ca/acband/spotlight_driscoll_e.asp
Fun times. It's hard to write a biography when you have to include all the military crap and keep it to a short number of words. meh.
Time to go play poker!!! Woohoo!

into the busy season we go

Today is June 5th. I joined the band on June 9th last year. I can't believe I have been working here almost a year already! Where has the time gone? Wow. And we're still playing some of the same crap that we were playing last year. Although I suppose I'll just have to get used to it, I'll be playing Soul Bossa Nova and The Hell Song for the rest of my career, I just know it. Meh.
It's totally been crazy busy lately too and it's not going to slow down until the end of July. We have played at Air Shows for the past two weekends, been preparing for other concerts as well. We have an outdoor concert in the park tomorrow night followed by a school concert the next day and as always there are parades and mess dinners. But I have to admit - I love it all. I love playing and knowing that I'm making a living playing. Even if I had to sell my soul to the government to do it. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Steady income, you get to play all day, lots of practice time, you usually have time to do extra stuff in the evenings. Seriously doesn't get much better.
Anyways, before I go on forever.
I'm glad that you two have found my blog A and N - I mostly made it for you guys and J, I have other blogs that I've had before but never really shared. I miss you guys, I still find it wierd to not be in university anymore. I have to admit that I do like real life much better most of the time though!!!
Well, speaking of real life, stupid vaccuming is calling my name and I have to pull out some chicken to defrost for supper. Making chicken alfredo pizza, mmmmm.
((((hugs)))) to all of you!

ugh

Well, I was in Tim Hortons today and a lady I knew from one of my community bands came up to me and asked me if I had a boy or a girl. That threw me for a loop. I was hoping that everyone knew by now about the baby. I guess not, so I had to tell her what happened. Just for those who might be reading this who know me in real life, I was pregnant and things were going well (I had already had one miscarriage two years ago) and I got my blood taken for some routine tests, it came back as a higher chance of the baby having spina bifida so I went in for a fetal assessment and the baby was perfectly fine except measuring two weeks behind where it should have. So, I was supposed to go in for a fetal assessment four weeks later but it just happened that two weeks later I had my regularly scheduled ultrasound. I had it when I was 20 weeks pregnant. At that ultrasound we found out that our baby had died. That sucked. And when I say sucked, I really mean sucked. It's like having your heart ripped out and handed to you. So, I had a few options but the only one that I was willing to go for was to be induced at the hospital and have the baby. The doctor did something in her office that was supposed to help things get going but it ended up sending me into labour that night. I tell you that labour is absolutely no picnic. It's about the worst thing ever. Especially knowing that your baby is dead. Anyways, I never ended up having to go to the hospital to have the baby cause I had him at home, and I got to spend some time with the baby before we took him into the hospital. When we took him there, the nurse cut the umbilical cord. Oh I forgot something. The reason my baby died was because the umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck, twice, tightly. The nurse cut it and took some pictures, gave me a shot in the hip and the doctor checked me and the baby over. I got to spend a little bit more time with the baby and then we gave him to the nurse to take away. We wanted an autopsy and then we had him cremated.
I never ever want to live through that experience again. I still don't feel right yet. And it's been almost four months. I suppose though that you never are the same again. I really hope that we can have children one day. Soon. If not, I have no problem adopting, in fact, I'd like to adopt a child no matter what one day.
Didn't mean to make this long.
Oh well.

Totally just fooling around with the camera. I keep my hair really short these days, it's just easier than fighting with stupid bangs and stuff, plus when you have to wear a hat to work every day - hat hair gets old fast.
Meh.

and another one is started

Seriously, how many blogs can one girl have? I think I should post links to all my other ones so I don't have to write the same thing in them all!!!
I started this one because I have some university friends here and I'd like to leave them comments.
That's it for now.
